Mr. Hyun-seok SHIN, one of the strongest players among Korean amateur Baduk players, won the 20th KPMC selection.

In the semi-finals, Mr. SHIN won against Mr. Jeong-seon KIM who have won the champion of Korea President Cup for 3 years. In the following final, he won against Mr. Joo-young LLEE who beat Mr. Hwan-young CHOI, the winner of the 2023 selection, and qualified as the representative for the 20th KPMC.

Mr. SHIN said, "I am happy to win unexpectedly. I think it was effective to empty my mind when playing, so just played to check my condition which could become dull as I have not played Baduk much recently.

He also said, "It is my first time as a Korean representative of the KPMC, and I am the type of man to show my skills well only when I play the match without any pressure. So, I will play without being too conscious until the end of the competition."

Meanwhile, the 20th KPMC will be held from November 7 to 14 this year in Taebaek City, Gangwon-do, Republic of Korea.
